Dr. Vanessa Bieker joins the project

We are excited to announce that on 1 January, 2024, we welcomed Dr. Vanessa Bieker to the ColdRein team! Dr. Bieker will take on the role of Researcher for 24 months, and will sit at the NTNU University Museum in Trondheim.

Dr. Bieker is highly trained in population genomics, phylogenomics, selection scanning, and metagenomics in a variety of diverse biological groups, from microbes to animals. This expertise is highly valued and will be beneficial for achieving the project’s aim to identify the major components of genetic diversity and population structure in Eurasian reindeer with direct implications for our work to understand the evolutionary genomics of Svalbard reindeer adaptations.
